The Cambodia rural water Supply Coverege Analysis Project was implemented at the request of the World Banks Water and Sanitation Program and the MInistry of Rural Development. The reason for the formulation of the project was the two national data sets, showing a marked discrepancy in rural water supply coverege rates between them. Specially, the Cambodia Inter-censal population survey showed that 39,6% of the rural population has access to safe water, while the cambodia Socio-economic survey showed that fully 60,1% of the rural population has access to safe water; a difference of more than 20 % points. The main national surveys considered in this report (the census, the Cambodia inter-cencus population surwey and Cambodia Socia-economic surwey) all consider the following water resources to be safe: piped water, tube well and protected dug well.
